    idea for hammock

    Hi guys
i was wondering would it work if you had the bug mesh connected to the tarp instead of going over the ridge line
You would have to an entry but you could just put a zipper between the hammock and mesh

    Thanks

If I understand correctly, that would mean additional seam sealing on the tarp which would add weight and possibly a depression in the tarp that might collect water.

However, my main concern would be not being able to go tarpless on those beautiful summer nights when bugs are still a concern.

Although, I have become a gram weenie and I prefer no tarp whenever possible. So my thoughts should be taken with a heaping spoonful of salt.

you could have a zip which connects net to tarp but also allows you to go tarpless and connect the netting together

That is the way the original GI M1965 jungle hammock is made , except it uses velcro on both sides.... Later commercial knock-offs sewed all but one long side and put in a zipper...

Later models separated the tarp, for obvious reasons.
