SOBO Thru Hike Hammock Prep

Shopping for gear for a thru hike on the At next year.
I am going southbound and starting at the beginning of June 2011.

I was thinking about using a nano-7 when the mosquitoes are away and then switching over to a WBBB 1.1 DL

So I was going to go with a black mamba winter and winter yeti, but started to think I would get way too hot.

What are some good tq and uq configurations that would work on both a nano-7 and a blackbird for my sobo hike?

yeti 3 season and big agnes pitch pine

also I was thinking about just ditching the uq and just using a sleeping pad.
Would this be practical even in the lower temps (I really have no clue on how cold it gets down to on a sobo hike)

You might be starting with the WBBB as you'll be facing the biting critters in June. Depending on your speed, you might not avoid mosquitoes at all. It depends on how warm you sleep, but I'd not want too much insulation from June to mid September. Mac has been working on some lighter Insultex and Primaloft gear that would keep you warm into the 40's while offering an option to launder them without as much hassle as down. If you have a DL WBBB, you might consider taking one of those huge evazote pads to fit between the layers. I've used one folded in half down into the mid 40's with great success. They're a bit bulky, but the weight is pretty good. If you find it too big, just cut it down to whatever size you want.

Pads can be used. The SPE (Speer Pad Extender) would be a wise "tweak" with pads to gain shoulder/hip/knee coverage. I think you need to decide what temperature you want to deal with before making insulation choices...just my two cents!
