Quicker way to stow tarp lines

I use a Speer Winter tarp so I have 10 lines that I've been wrapping across my fingers and tying off close to the tarp. This is the single most time consuming thing about breaking camp for me.

Is there an easier, quicker method for storing lines?

    Thanks!

When you slide the skins on, are your lines left hanging loose? If so, I'd never guess that the skins would keep the lines from tangling.

I use a bishop style stuff sack and as i bring the first corners of the tarp in I roll it up so that I am not stuffing the lines, but the tarp. Maybe this would help in the same way with skins

Generally, if you roll the lines up with the tarp they wont tangle. Yeah youll get the occasional rebel line that wants to tangle.

For me.. The time it takes to figure 8 wrap them on my hand is worth the lack of possibility of tangle.

I have tried a couple of times to just leave them loose in the tarp as I slide the snakeskins on, but I seem to always get a little tangle. I have changed for the next trip and will see how it goes. I have actually attached my figure 9's directly to the loop on the tarp. I have the a loop in one end of each guy line that can drop over the stake and then run the free end to the tarp and fasten to the figure 9. I have a foot long piece of 1/8 " shock cord run through the loop at the stake end and clove hitched a foot up the guy line to provide tension. This lets me easily remove the guy lines from the tarp and handle them separately and just include the figure 9's in the snake skin with the tarp. Seemed to work OK when just stretching out the tarp in the back yard. I'll see in a couple of weeks how it works out on the trail.

    no laughing...please

I have the same problem with my winter dream tarp. It is a Mamouth. I love it. I usually only have 4 tie outs (hex style) and the doors are flapped under and tied to each other ready to deploy.

anyways, I am the slow poke getting all wrapped up. So I'm trying a new method. Not the lightest. But I found Kite handles. 4 handles = 4oz. I think... anyways, these are heavier than I wanted. But they work like a dream on my JrB STL's. Way faster. I widened the slit on the side to wedge the line in and it holds fabulous. I only have 2 on there for now testing them, and love it. They even fit in my Snake skins when rolled up.

I'm searching for lighter ones. I'm stalking the dollar stores for the cheap chin-cee kid kites. I'm going to steel those flimsy plastic kite handles. Lighter and I'm careful. I bought some online and they are too much for what I need. Bulky and heavier, hence why I'm only using 2 for the trials.

Just a thought that works for me. I was all packed up before Rook this morning and that was a first. Go kite handles!
It's not the pace....it's the experience.

oldgringo predicts: one day, there will be little pockets sewn on tarps @ each tie down attachment point, and life will be good.
