Hey guys, Thought I'd let you know about my first real experience with my new setup in the outdoors rather than my backyard hangs. I went with 4 other buddies to Azusa Canyon overnight, where we also hiked to "The Bridge to Nowhere" after setting up camp.
The Setup:
Eno ProNest
Eno ProFly
suspension- SMC Rings + 3/4" Webbing
Insulation- Big Agnes Aircore
Kelty Light Year XP 40*F Pull up bag.
Anticipating it would drop into the 40s I setup the tarp at a fairly low pitch as we were pretty close to the creek. I setup another ridgeline to hang gear and attach my shockcord from my pull up sleeping bag. To add more warmth, I hung a small tent foot print over me from the ridgeline, this easily added about 10* of warmth.I tried sleeping without the footprint above me, and it was too cold. I also had an original space blanket as a ground cloth to make it easier to get in and out from the damp sandy ground.
Overall: I was pretty warm, I checked my thermometer throughout the night and the low was 37*F. I did feel a slight coolness on my back but nothing bothersome. I think a proper hammock sock would have been more efficient keeping more warmth in.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a Hammock Sock? Any suggestions on how to go about making one?
Ps. My friends were envious of my setup and are thinking of getting their own setup. I thank you guys for contributing some awesome information on the forums, without you guys, I would've been cold. Thanks!
I will be editing a video of my trip and post it ASAP!
