Ambulo tua ambulo.
So does the nature of the cuben fabric, the sort of crinkly stiffness and the absolute waterproof film detract from the comfort....at least unless it's REALLY hot? ( and you are in La Florida ) Seems like it could be a benefit in a hammock in temps say 65 or lower.
What's your experience been?
"Hanging in the balance of a perfect finished plan"
I am thinking about building them to sell on my website so this has been my working prototype. The production model will have a few more bells and whistles. Maybe a built in stuff sack and 34 gram climbing carabiners for the ends..I heard the "hammock knot" can slip on cuben since its so slippery but I have never tried it so I don't know...

If the H knot you refer to is just a simple overhand knot in each end, mine has held and not (knot!!) slipped in a couple years! gnome
How much would a hammock bottom about 3 yards by 52" wide weigh and cost if you did it for gathered ends? I'm thinking that something like that with Dynaglide UCRs and some of my 21 gram tree straps would cut a little more off my weight.
So far I could do all the other parts (suspension pieces) for about 56 grams of weight.
I am not a sweaty person and heat rises so it hasn't been a problem for me.. I think its similar to sleeping on an inflatable pad since they don't breath..
What cuben are you going to use to get that weight?
That is the suspension, I was wondering how much the body would weigh if you made it 3 yards by 52" gathered end.
oh ok...The material weighs .75oz a square yard so at 4.5 square yards the hammock would weigh around 3.4oz... Mine is 4.0oz because its really about 10' long before the channels were built, and also because the adhesive and cord at the ends..
That is pretty darn light. How much would that cost me?
You can buy my production model for $150 when it comes out or try to find someone to sell you some cuben... You can buy the cuben from Cuben Tech but they require a minimum order of 9 meters..I might have a few extra yards I could sell you if you are interested..
I'll think about it. I gotta decide if saving 2 ounces is worth $150 LOL.
