Hammocking in SoCal
I know this is an older thread, but well read and lots of info...and i didn't feel the need to start a new thread to ask an in-context question.
Soooo... My wife and i have two ENO hammocks. She fits perfect in a SN and i enjoy the added room of the DN. Both have a fabric length stated/measured at 108". Doing the ridgeline suggested 83% math shows a suggested RL measurement of ~90". We did some doodling with the lengths and came up with 92" RL for my wife in the SN and i felt best with a 95" RL in the DN.
Here is my question. Knowing that there is limited space inside a van (typically 9 to 11 ft max behind the seats, and with fixed ridgelines of no more than ~96"...could one rig up mount points as close as 8 feet (96") without utilizing any further suspension except the Larks Head knot off the hammock end(s) and be considered a proper "hang" for that sized hammock(s) ?? I'm thinking of making a stand alone indoor mount to test it out at some point.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Cant say about a van but i have a megacab dodge diesel, I hang in a single nest with no suspension other than larks head pulled tight so hammock has about an inch on each end from roof of the contractor grade canopy. box length is 6 foot 6 but corner to corner it works and i have 4 inches to spare under the loaded setup. sleeps great and hangs the same every time!!!

I was hanging from an Amsteel continuous loop larksheaded around a roof bow in my Chevy Express. Later inspection revealed the Amsteel had cut halfway through the steel bow, like a wire through cheese. A larkshead is just another name for a choker hitch. Just a heads up...
