    Haven Question

Has anyone used a different pad besides the Haven XL pad? I have the Thermarest Mondo, but was looking for one with a lower R value. TIA

The Haven pad is part of the structure of the tent. If you had a pad with very similar dimensions it might work.
If you need to go lower in temps then I'd use another blanket under you. This might also help with condensation.

Thermarest is the only one that fits the XL, problem is it cost as much as the complete XL set up. Havens pad is garbage, the cheapest valve on the market and thats a shame. They have a great idea but when they went cheap as possible on manufacturing it was a mistake. Every 2 or 3 hours I have to add air or risk blowing a pole thru the side of the hammock. I contacted them about it and was told all pads lose air, well I have 9 other pads from different companies and can use them for about a week before having to add air. Bottom line if you use their pad BUY their pump or you'll go crazy

I haven't tried, but it looks like Zenbivy also has a mattress that could work.

I saw a YouTube video about f someone cutting reflect-X to the length and width of the pad and placed it underneath the pad. They said it lowered the r-value.

Sorry, you’re right. Supposed to increase the R-Value with lower temps. My brain was backwards… I know what I meant to say, came out wrong.

I was just fooling around the other day and found out my OneWind under quilt fits the Haven XL almost like a glove. The loops on the quilt hook on the tarp try downs and you can adjust the with using the draw strings. I also got Haven's pad cover cant wait to try this out this winter. Now if I could figure out how to get Haven"s pad to hold air more than a couple of hours.

All I can say is I own 9 pads, some close to 10 yrs old and the Haven is the only one I constantly have to add air not due to a hole.I can't figure it out I sprayed it with soapy water and could not find a leak.
