you don't already do this? I hang everyday inside my house. I watch tv, take naps, and sometimes use it instead of the bed (when I'm alone). Make use of that hammock of yours! eye bolt lag screw into a window or door jam is all it takes. I got pics of this somewhere on one of the other threads on this subject. the tough part is getting the height of the eye bolt lags just right the first time.

+1 on the above. People tend to over think it. I've been in construction allot of my life and hang my 200+lb self on a couple of eye bolt lag screws into jams in my living room.

+1 I am 165Lbs. Use two 3/8" Eye Bolts, pre-drilled the holes and I have never had any issues...."YET"

P.S. They are rated for 250lbs.

Add 1 more. 170lbs, 3/8" screw hooks centered and pre-drilled into pine studs. 2000+ hours of "testing" without failure. Knocks on wood!

I've heard of plenty of success stories on using the eye lag bolts and ZERO failures. anyone else hear of a failure with this method?

Yeah - somebody on the hammockcamping Yahoo group pulled his french doors down on top of him and his daughter doing exactly what y'all are talking about. IIRC, he needed stitches but his daughter was ok.

And someone else posted that they pulled their walls out of square a couple years ago...don't remember who.

Personally, I think it's worth a stand...but I'm not the one paying for your damage if any happens so dowachalike!

I suspect stupidity or ignorance played the biggest factor in any complete failure like the french door episode. But I wouldn't mind seeing a youtube video of that.

I hang from the rafters in the basement. Because they are 7 1/2' high They are 25' apart. I just drill a 1/2" hole in the joist and run a piece of rope through the hole, tie the ends together, clip a caribiner to the rope and the hammock suspension on each end.

I have hammock mounting eye-bolts in the garage and on the front porch. On the porch they're screwed into the 4X4 post and the other end into a wall stud. In the garage I uaed several sheet rock screws to mount a 2X4 up from work benches on each side to the rafters and then put eye bolts through the 2-by. It creaks some, but the only problem was when the mounting rope slid and I hit the floor. I weig 200 lbs, so it was of some concern, especially after tearing the door jamb off the bedroom closet.

Exactly what I wanted to ask!

I have read all the threads about this. I keep seeing people warn about damaging the walls by hanging off eye bolts into a stud, but no posts about problems. It seems to be all theoretical damage potential.

Chalk up one more on the side of using eye bolts into studs. I will mention that one end is into a double stud next to a window. The other is in a corner. Works for me.
