I put a couple of small hooks on the walls in the garage to hang up the hammock to dry and air out but I was wondering, has anyone hung their hammock inside the garage or house and actually used it?
What kind of hooks should I use, and will it tear down the house?
you will need weight rated equipment to safely hang in the house- there are several threads on indoor hanging- be sure to attach to a stud in the wall at the very least- adding some re-inforcement to your anchor point is a good thing, also.KM
A lot of people seem to use eye screws with decent success, but the biggest ones I've seen are only rated to ~250lbs. Padeyes, like one would use on a boat are the best suggestion I've seen. They're more like $20/ea (starting) rather than $2.50 for the eye screws, but the ratings can go pretty high. I have a set on order rated to 1200lbs from West Marine.
I'm less concerned about the metal bending as I am about purchase in the wall (stud), and 2x 1/4" screws ought to provide more purchase in a stud than 1x 3/8 (the largest eye screw I was able to find).

Generally speaking there are two schools of thought.. use a hammock stand (my own position) or engineer reinforcement into the wall. There are many on the forum who sleep full time in a hammock. I did for a while but have since moved back to a regular bed for a variety of reasons.

you don't already do this? I hang everyday inside my house. I watch tv, take naps, and sometimes use it instead of the bed (when I'm alone). Make use of that hammock of yours! eye bolt lag screw into a window or door jam is all it takes. about $10.00 should do it... good eye lag bolt... i think 3/8 pre drill into a stud... twist it in and clip or tie to the bolts... be hanging in less then 1/2 hour.

Screws into studs...ok. Screws into door and window jams...pushing your luck if you ask me.

+1 I am 165Lbs. Use two 3/8" Eye Bolts, pre-drilled the holes and I have never had any issues...."YET"
P.S. They are rated for 250lbs.
