Meet at Yates Place Campground, Troy NC
Friday afternoon at 300pm, we will wait for all to arrive—at least for a while.
We will go to Fat Man’s Camp—a made up name not on map. I gave it that name, because a fat man can complete the hike in just over one hour.
From Yates, take spur trail out of camp marked with yellow blazes. Hike about five minutes to a T intersection.
Turn left, going south on Uwharrie Trail, marked with wooden signs and white blazes. Hike about one hour south on Uwharrie Trail until you get to a large creek. Do not cross large creek—you are now at Fat Man’s Camp. We usually go through the camp following the creek downstream about fifty yards.
There are enough trees for about six campers.
Plenty of water to filter for coffee. There are some level spots for tents too.
Please note: Fat Man’s Camp is not Beech Camp
And if campsite is taken, then we will have plan B
Some might camp only Friday, depending on weather. And some will camp Friday and Saturday nights. But if all others leave Saturday, then I’ll leave too.
