Talking Stop the press..The new T-7 has arrived!!

I picked up my new hammock from Tinker on Friday and found a little time today to set it up. It is a double bottom 1.1 in camo x-wide. Tinker added the pullouts and incorporated the no-see-um netting over the ridge line. It has a full length zipper and an overcover to match. If anyone knows Tinker, the craftsmanship is top notch and the fit and feel are oooooooo so sweet. For a few more pictures, see my album.

That's me. After Kevin tried my new DIY hammock during our latest outing, he had to have one.

It's got the same netting shape as a Blackbird, but it doesn't have the footbox or shelf. It's also 6" longer overall. My single layer 1.9 weighs 22 oz. I don't remember what this 1.1 double weighed.

How is the overcover attached or deployed? In the pic it appears to have seperate tie outs. I don't see a zipper like the Clarks.

    Thanks, Miguel

The overcover was cut the same shape as the netting, but 4" wider on each side. The ends have a piece of paracord that ties around the hammock whipping. You can kind of see the zipper in the second pic above. It's between the bed fabric and the panel that attaches the netting. You can see it better in some of the gallery pics.

Thanks Tinker for filling in the gaps, as I just got home from work...long day.
I did find that the overcover may need some sort of attachment to the side pullouts because with a little wind it tends to flip up. I will have to give it some thought, maybe a velcro tab or a clip of some kind. The camo fabric and tree huggers look good together but the amsteel line I purchased may have to be changed, maybe black or a brown of sorts. I have black skins on it that covers most of the line but that color just does not set well with me.

I just checked the weight of my new hammock, this weight includes the hammock, whoppie slings, snake skins and overcover......28.22 oz
The overcover itself weights in at 3.08, the snake skins 1.3, so the hammock with whoppie slings weights 23.84 oz.

That is oh-so sweet! When does TinkerGear.com go live, Jerry?
But seriously, if you ever start selling them things, let me know. I want to be top of the list of orders!

Thanks sir_n0thing(and several others offline), but I don't see that happening. I'm just a copy cat. I couldn't sleep at night knowing I was trying to profit from someone else's basic design. I'm sure Brandon put a lot of thought into the design of the Blackbird bugnet shape and I respect that. I'm strictly a DIY hack. Kevin is a local backpacking buddy so I was just helping out a friend.
