    South Florida Hanging - Newbie

    Hey all, islander out here.

I'm not officially a "hanger" just yet. But I soon will be as soon as I decide on which hammock to get for my uses.
Living in South Florida gets very humid, hot muggy in the summer. I kayak allot, and camp in small mangrove areas. Mostly with a small tent, or sometimes via another boat/tent setup.

I'm looking to find a hammock to help make it comfortable from bugs and mosquito's, and open more options getting suspended over wet areas.
Any suggestions on a sturdy hammock is much appreciated.

I have been eyeing the HH Desert Rat, as it seems setup for hot weather sleeping. And its currently on sale...

Enjoying the posts and suggestions out there.

    Soon to hang...

    Welcome to the Forums!

Same prob with the bugs and humidity here. I have a BlackBird by Warbonet Guy and have been real happy with it. Good luck on which ever you choose!

    Welcome!

I have the HH Desert Rat and love it. I mainly bought it for the color... I hike solo a bit and was going for the stealth look...

Mainly looking to have as much airflow as possible with a full mosquito netting.

And... support my 190lbs comfortably. Color not so much a concern. The places I go overnight there's no-one around for miles...
I like it that way too.

thanks for the replies and "welcomes"

Welcome islander. The price of the DR is great . The only thing thats missing is the ability to remove part of the bugnet for side entry, and non bug times where you want to be in the open air. That can be had from 2QZQ by getting the HH zipper mod . There's also the Claytor jungle hammock. Myself i use a Blackbird

    Islander:
Welcome to HF and good luck in your hammock hunt. I like the Clark Jungle Hammocks, they are pricey but you get everything in one package. They offer a Tropical model that is supposed to be great for your type of locale. They also offer this hammock in two size catagories: the standard Tropical and larger TX-200 model. Check them out and see what you think.
