    Nest and my Hennessy

I know the Nest was made for the Backpacker UL but how well does it fit with the Explorer UL?

Would there be a better choice?

There is no better choice for a Hennessy. The Nest is 78" long, if you are taller than that it could be an issue, you might have to place a small pad in the footbox of your top quilt.

Ditto. It doesn't have to be longer than your hammock, just longer than you are. And not even that really, considering the torso length UQs out there.

    I'm 6'3" so I guess I'll fit in it.

I have the Survivor (same dimensions as Explorer) and the Nest. Both fit well together.

Well the Nest seems to be the way to go, what about keeping it dry? I currently have the stock HH tarp which doesn't provide too much coverage, should I just get a larger tarp or some sort of undercover to keep the UQ dry?

Definitely get the larger tarp. That will serve you well.

My preference is for a larger tarp--you might check out www.outdoorequipmentsupplier.com and see what Brian has to offer. I use the 12x10 cat-cut tarp in SpinnUL, which is wonderful for double-hanging with my wife. For single hanging, I probably would choose the MacCat Ultra (I like a little margin of safety for blowing rain--others may choose smaller tarps). Whether in Spinn or Sil depends on your pocketbook vs. desire to cut ounces. You won't go wrong with any of these tarps--high quality.

    Mr 133t dood,

    We had a great hike...

To answer your questions the Nest will fit the HH Explorer just fine.

And yes, we recommend a larger tarp than the stock asym item... Especially when fluffy down UQ are attached...With a large tarp is in use a Weather Shield is not necessary in any weather other than dense fog, thonk UK or Washington state... The JRB 11x10 Cat is our recommendation... Now remember we are biased here but it is a darn fine tarp...
