I have been testing my doubled over pluq with shockcorded ends. I think my comfortable low temp is 47. 41 was cold. I have a tq that is a pl with an extra layer of nylon. I plan on making a tq and uq with 2 layers of insultex. I think the combination of pl and ix should get me to 30.

Since I now know the answer apparently isn't JoAnn Fabrics - where do folks buy shock cord?

Paul, at AHE has shock cord, and he is a member here.

Supply Captain is another good source.

When I first saw the IX, I immediately thought I could use it between the poncho liner layers. Let me know if you go through with this. I'd love to see how it works.

I get mine at ACE Hardware. You have several of them in Columbus.
    2585 North High St. 614-444-8963
    4591 North High St. 614-267-1245
    1131 West 5th Ave 614-291-0820
Plus one in Dublin, one up in Marysville, and one in Delaware.

It might also be worth a phone call to Zettler's downtown. 614-224-4749

If any of them stock it, you'd be wise to buy it from them so they're encouraged to continue stocking it. It's always nice to be able to get supplies on short notice.

I have the ix. I plan to make 2 layer uq and tq covered with nylon. I have some water resistant stuff I may use on the outside of the uq. to stop some wind and splash. I may try it between the hammock and pluq just to see how it does. It just looks so flimsy not to cover it. I'll keep you informed.

I got my shockcord at quest. My local joannes didn't have it but they had a half inch flat elastic.

Outstanding! I've already gotten funny looks in there for buying weird things like '6 aluminum gutter nails please'. The dude at JoAnn already thinks I'm weird too.

Ok fess up. At some point, I'm going to have to start carrying a little bell everywhere and warning people that I like hammocks or something - won't I?
