    Tie out ropes

What is everybody using for tie out ropes? (hammock and tarp)

I'm using paracord but it sure is tangley. Ont he other hand it will hold a knot where amsteel would prefer not to.

    What do you use?

For my tarp guy lines, I use Speer No-Tangle lines. I use Opie's ridgeline for the top/ends (1.75 mm Dyneema fiber).

Using Zing-it which is 1.75mm dyneema

BackPackingLight sells it under the name Aircore. I have purchased it under both names, same stuff.

I believe MountainLaurelDesigns Liteline is the same also.

It is overkill strength-wise (400 lbs.) but, it is lightweight, tangle free and will hold a knot or a figure 9. And, it will last longer than you will probably be able to go hiking.

Ed Speer sells "No Tangle" guy lines which are a spectra core wrapped in nylon, which is a popular choice, although I haven't tried it, (275 lb).

In general, stay away from all nylon lines as they stretch, especially when wet. Also, mason line has a reputation for tangling badly.

Kelty TripTease Lightline for tie-outs....It's reflective, so I (and others wandering about) don't trip on it in the dark. I've had no trouble with tangling.

braided mason line (from your hardware store)...cheap, multicolored, easy to find and weaker than your tarp tie outs!
and I dont have much issue with it tangling...lucky i guess

I just picked up some yellow Mason line at Home Depot that works perfect with micro line-locs. Previously I got Mason line from Menards that was too thin, but the HD stuff is great.

Tangling is a non-issue for me, since I coil (around three fingers) tie-outs starting at the tarp-end and secure all lines as small "hanks." When pitching the tarp I just grab the "hank" and pull. The line extends without tangles. I also do this with large ropes, mooring lines, etc. and it saves alot of cussin.
