OK, I just uploaded 8 pictures into the Group Campouts. I don't have any of the creek or swimming. I also wasn't able to stay overnight so I don't have any campfire or other pictures. Clicking on "View My Gallery" should get you to them quickly.

We lucked up, weather patterns changed slightly Friday night and it was only in the high 80's - low 90's instead of high 90's - low 100's.

Yeah, Blackie told us that Sir McGowan has earned that title and was knighted. Sir McGowan said he has been all over the world as a professional soldier. He is an interesting character and I wish I could have stayed and heard some of his stories. Blackie can tell you more about him.

Interesting and a gentleman. He & Ann were great hosts who seemed to enjoy us having a good time as much as we enjoyed it! Can't wait to bring my kayak, if it ever rains down in FL/AL/GA again

Sir Francis McGowan...was a force recon marine in vietnam...he was in 3.3.3 marines...his story can be found in the book " no shining armor"( his unit in nam)..he is also a forrester/scout master/marine corps rifle team/retired from veterans affairs of alabama...ect ect...he has camped /canoed/hiked..from the artic circle to south africa...he is the laird of the Alabama Red Wolves....and has been my friend for 20yrs...and a companion on many many outdoor adventures
now miss Ann...well lets just say she is the tough one!!
they truly did enjoy seeing every one and have expressed to me a desire to host more events there in the future...parking at the site is tight ..but a little down the road is a 800 acre hunting area we can park cars on and shuttle people to the camp site.....since so many people are planning a trip to N.C in sept...maybe we should plan a spring get together instead....maybe a 4 day..we hold living history events there 2 times a year and they are usually wed-sun...we could canoe( when we get some rain)..he has several canoies we can use...or a hike either on the roads of the area or a shuttle to conech nationl forest( 8 mile loop i think ..ill check on it )..or a base for day hikes on the eastern trail which runs just a few miles from the pigeon creek campsite
....what we have is a land owner willing to host us..a site big enough for many hangers..and several points of interest local to the site...all i need to know is when (fall / winter? spring?/) and how many would like to come..
so how bout it guys...who would like to come hang in the deep south???

I am supposed to interview for a job that would be 90 percent travel next week. That will determine when and where I can go hang. That is the only reason I haven't jumped in with enthusiasm on any of the hangout announcements.

I will attend any that I can physically make it to, whenever they are.
