    Tent to Hammock transition phase

Went tent camping last weekend, and it gave me a chance to work on my hammock. I hung it just outside the tent, and used it for siting and lounging in. I did not sleep in it, although if the air mattress goes flat again I probably will! Here are two pics from the camping trip,(wish I would have thought to take some closer pics of the hammock at camp. and one of my trying out my sleeping bag with the hammock. Even our dog loves the hammock! We are planning on doing just hammock's camping trip soon. I just have to get two more made and three tarps.

You look comfy enough. Public camp grounds usually have hard packed earth to sleep on so a hammock ought to be a great improvement. With a bright yellow hammock I guess stealth camping isn't high on the priority list.
Let us know if the the bees are attracted to the bright yellow color.

lol. not worried about stealth camping right now. just cheap camping. the reason it is bright yellow was cause I had bought the material along time ago to make head wraps for ref's to wear while playing paintball so we wouldnt get shot at. I never got around to making them and it was just the right size to make a hammock out of. it is ripstop nylon too. good thing I am a packrat... :P Later I do want to make a stealthier hammock though.

I actually like the color, it shows everyone's taste is different, thank goodness in this world. However, there's no way in Hades that you can camp on some farmer's land without being seen.:

If there was no need for me to stealth it I would choose yellow for my hammock and probably my tarp also.Keep the hammock progression going.

Yep, you look nice & comfy there Rico! I'll bet the more time you spend w/ your hammock, the less you'll enjoy going back to the mat on the ground
I too will something make and joy in it's making

OK I see the house but where is the tent

    Great start on the hammock.

I plan on making my under insulation out of an old sleeping bag, but I have not looked into it much. Still trying to look into suspensions. We love that tent, it is almost big enough to fit a hammock inside. :P It is great for car camping, but I am trying to get my wife talked into backpack camping, and hammocks seem the most logical way of backpack camping, and the comfyest. I do like my yellow hammock just cause it is easily seen, no one will miss it and trip over it in camp. Thanks for the comments guys.

i gotta say that hammock is the dogs pants! wish i had one like it..as far as under quilt goes .you could also try a military poncho liner .15-25 bucks .might be something to check out as the weather is starting warm .and looks pretty easy .id really like to make one like this, just havent gotten around to picking up a liner yet..but either way i dig the hammock!
