JRB 3 season set

I am a new to hammock camping and am looking to get a simple lightweight system for three season use. I am between a cold and warm sleeper (leaning more toward cold side).

i have bee flooded with info on Hammock forums. I don't have alot of money but don't mind spending the money for something that will lst me a long time.

Right now I am looking at

Hennessy supershelter ordered from Hennessy.com

or the Jacks r better 3 season set (the nest and long no sniveler quilt)

or just the Nest and some other TQ.



I have the HHULBB and like the birth canal opening and don"t see my self changing it.

I am not into making my own gear and would perfer to either buy used or something made.

the only thing I don't like about down is the settling and the fact that it cannot get wet.

My other option is I have been e-mailing Macentyre about his Insutex underpads that he started making that are nestable and compact. I was thinking to get a Hennessy undercover and use the two of the insutex under pads that MacEntrye makes and then a down TQ.

would appreciate any feedback.

If it's 3-seasons you are looking for then the Nest is a great quilt that will cover you easily in those temps. I also have a JrB Old Rag Mountain that I use as a TopQuilt.

Most of the reaction to the supershelter on this forums is lukewarm, you will find most people lean away from it.

You might also want to consider StormCrows 3/4 length quilts: http://www.theperfecttrees.com

They make for a lighter alternative to a full-length quilt.

The only reason I sold the Nest was because I wanted something to easily extend comfort into winter.

You will not be disappointed by ANY of those quilts.

Also don't forget to include the Arrowhead Equipment Kick *** Quilt (Potomac) model that is made especially for the Hennessy Hammocks and it is made with Climashield insulation. You lose a little in compressibility, but it is traded off against cost and no worries if it gets wet.

Nest is a good quilt...also look at the Mt Washington 3 for a differential-cut UQ.

Have you considered a partial UQ and leg pad?

I think I am going to bite the bullet and just order the JRB nest for not it seams like a good choice. I am just looking to use it a a TQ for now. and having the slit opening will be nice if I want to use it as a UQ with the JRB weathersheild.

Thanks for all the input from you guys, much appreciated. The nest seams to be a multi purpose item ( a wearable quilt, UQ with the Hennessy slit, and TQ) I priced it out and the price is going tobe 303.95 us and converted over thanks to the strong Loonie I am looking at 309.95 Can .


not too bad, All of the Jacks r better stuff seams to get rave reviews. I guess i can be extra careful to keep it dry.
