I've been going to the Philadelphia folk fest for 12 years now. It is a 4 day event. A hammock vendor has been selling hammocks for several years now and they are catching on. I had my HH hanging this year. Here are some pictures of the only shady area of the fest

The fest is two weekends before labor day weekend each year. This last fest was the 46th annual. Over 5000 campers stay the 4 days or more. Another 10,000 day trippers (sometime literally) also attend.
The camping area is an open field with no shade. The concerts go to about midnight followed by music in the camp area until the early morning hours. This combination results in many tired people getting baked in their tents as soon as the sun comes out. This is why the hammocks in the limited shade is catching on.
