paracord ridgeline??

is this an ok thing?
as i know paracord stretches like mad , so i can tighten it up real well,and should i secure it to the ground with it as well, or should i use some sort of shock cord?
ive seen taught no stretch set ups and ive seen setups with shock cord usage.

i just dont want to be one of the new guys showing off their newly used and damaged tarp!

i bought a decent tarp with sewn in loops.
now im looking to secure it properly....yes ive been watching tons of how to's but they are all a little different than the next...now i need to figure out which way is best for me!

I assume you mean for a tarp ridgeline, and not a structural hammock ridgeline.

Paracord will work ok for a tarp ridgeline. Not great, but ok. It's heavier than you need. It soaks up water, so it'll be heavier after a rain...and if you don't let it dry it can mildew. And you already said it stretches so you might have to tighten it up in the rain.

But it works! I used plenty of 550 cord on poncho shelters!

but im really liking the new lightweight cordages you gan get the dyneema and the small diam cord that holds sooo much weight.

Hey Bow guy,
I use paracord for tarp suspension from time to time.
I would not use it for a hammock structural ridge ie load bearing ridge as you said it stretches, also seems like it holds moisture after a while.

if you are like me you probably got a bunch of it, so use until you see something you like better.

I have some of the kelty triptease with surgical tube for tarp tie outs you'll see like on JustJeff's Page and others, I like the adjust with prussic tie outs talked about around here, I make try that with paracord as a trial.

I hope it works wells. I just made two Opie-style tarp no-knot ridgelines with it. I had a 100 ft that needed to be used. Still have tons left.
