    AZ Hang 4, 4/30/10-5/2/10

We had a great time hanging at AZ Hang 4, located at See Canyon in the beautiful Mogollon Rim country of Arizona at around 6500 ft elevation.

We only had 5 people show up, but that did not stop us from having a lot of fun. We got to see a lot of different gear, eat some incredible food and a few of us went on a really enjoyable 10 mile hike on Saturday along the Highline Trail. We fell asleep at night to the relaxing sound of Christopher Creek flowing just down the hill from our campsite. I tried a little bit of fly fishing Sunday morning, but no luck there. I estimate the overnight low Friday night to be the mid 30's and Saturday night to be in the low 40's. Nothing to brag about there, we were expecting temps into the 20's according to the forecast. Needless to say, we all stayed nice and toasty warm. We had some intermittent light rain and on Sunday morning we even had a few snow flurries.

Here are some pictures and comments below:

That looks like a beautiful place. I am still planning a few extra days to explore when I return to AZ around Halloween.

I assume everyone made it out before the wind hit on Sun? I was in Chandler on Lake Firebird. That was the dryest hurricane I have ever experienced.

Yes, we beat the wind and a downpour, but not by much. We had only been driving about 10 minutes when the wind and rain hit. I'm glad we decided to leave when we did. Keep in touch for this fall. We could easily plan another hang around that time.

BTW, I think we found the perfect hanging site on the hike. The 3rd from last picture, the one just above Te-wa shows a flat red rock area with a couple of ponderosa pines that might be just the right spacing for a hang with a fabulous view off the Rim. OK, maybe they are too far apart, but a man can dream, can't he? :-)

Drool, Drool!`I've been looking forward to this trip report. There is good old Promontory Butte! I was wondering if you guys were going to be close to that! I used to come in from the North and camp right on the edge of the Rim at Prom Butte, looking down on where you guys were on your hike/camp! That is a wonderful spot! Good report!
