Hiking as long as my Burrow and boots show up in the mail tomorrow. Should have been here Friday, but they are still a no show, and the USPS doesn't show them ever leaving my parent's town.

Not going to lie, I was having second thoughts, I can do rain but lightning and I don't mix well.

WrongTurn, do you still need rain pants? I have extra pair of DryDucks mediums if you need them. They are BIG.

Unfortunately, Dancer and I are going to have to bow out of this hike. I've been fighting a cold for a couple days now and I don't think I'll be well enough to make this. Hope the rest of y'all have a great time and have a wonderful hike/hang.

Hooch, sorry to hear that! I will miss you and Dancer. But I can understand if sick. I can't hike feeling punk. For anyone else, I'm still going to do the Option 2 hike. I got the shuttle, the map and the gear and I'm still hiking. I'll be at Whitetop Mtn Rd/USFS 89 Tuesday evening to camp and will start hiking Wednesday morning.

Was really look forward to this hike but will have to catch y'all another time. Making sure my man is taken care of is a bit more important. Oh well, bummer......

Hmmm ... you sure Hooch isn't just faking it for attention?

Just kidding ... hope he gets to feeling better soon. Wish you two could join us in Linville Gorge this weekend!

Happy Camper I'm still a go for the trip. My Burrow came in the mail this morning. With the thunderstorms predicted for Tuesday night, would you be up for staying at Lost Mountain shelter Tuesday night. I think It might be better down in the valley than up on that ridge line Tuesday night.

I'm still prepared to go, and Troutehcuss is already driving I think. Weather report is getting worse for this week. I don't want him to drive down here and everyone have bailed on the hike. I'm just not sure how I feel about hiking in Thunderstorms everyday.

Oh and I'm not sure if a Medium would fit me, but I could try them.

Yep, I'm willing to start out at Lost Mountain. I'll bring the Dri Ducks.

Happy Camper weather report is getting worse for the next few days. Wed is looking really bad. Forecast for severe thunderstorms all day.

I'm not positive whether or not I'm going to hike at this point. I'm not sure it is worth the risk.

I'm sure Troutehcuss is going to go regardless of the weather after driving all this way. I'm going to go down to Damascus in the morning with my gear just in case, and atleast pick up some rain pants from MRO and try to meet up with him and see what he wants to do.

I hate to bail this late in the game, but the weather just looks to gnarly at this point. High winds, torrential downpours, and severe lightning predicted for Wed and severe cells of storms to pass thru the area Thursday and Friday.
