    Superstition Wilderness, AZ 4/23-4/25 2010

We had Tom Clark, a fellow poster on the BPL forums, travel out from PA to Phoenix on a business trip last weekend, and a few of us took him out to the Superstition Wilderness for a fun 3 day backpacking adventure. It was a little bit instructional for Tom as we were all avid hammock campers, and we were throwing around a lot of the slang and new techniques that are regularly discussed in these forums. Tom was a heck of a nice guy and we all had a great time. He posted a really nice and detailed trip report on the BPL forums, linked below. Since there was a lot of hanging going on, I thought it would be nice to share it here too. Tom is also a hammock camper and owns a Hennessy, but he elected this trip to bring along a pad and bivy and go ultralight. We found some really nice hanging spots out there, particularly on the second night at Fish Creek.

Great trip report and pics. I love seeing Arizona, so alien to my environment. I think i'd wilt in the heat.

Would love to come but maybe in the fall, things are busy at the moment.

Thanks for the comments guys. Last weekend was a blast - I'm still buzzing about it. Any and all visitors are welcome. We like to get out backpacking a LOT down here, and welcome any excuse to plan another trip. As the weather warms up, we'll head further up the transition zone towards other higher elevation locales. AZ has a huge and diverse number of climate zones to choose from, all within a couple hours of driving. I'll work on getting more trip reports posted as we enter the summer backpacking season.

    Andy,

Thanks again for letting me join in on the trip. It was great to get away for 3 days/2 nights instead of the typical 2 day/1 night. Glad Tom came out for "business". Always nice to meet new people.
