Smile Hello from the Shadow of Mt. Rainier

I just joined this group. I can't stand the whole tent, rocks, roots, on a slope thing anymore. I am the father of 5 and with scouts camping is always around the corner.

I am hoping to put together a quick homemade hammock for Friday for my son and I to go try the hammock thing. Then we will start looking for a more advanced hammock.

Can't wait to read posts and share my experiences.

    Thanks,
    Keith

Welcome! I think you'll find what you want with hammocks. Let us know how the homemade hammock works out - you may not need to look for anything else.

Oh... be sure to watch Shug's videos for newbies... and not so newbies.

Welcome fellow Washingtonian. Mt. Rainier is some nice country. I'm pretty new to hanging also but once you hang you'll never go back to a tent unless forced to. I hiked into Hells Canyon a few weeks ago with some ground dwellers and chose to take my hammock and tarp fully expecting to set it up on the ground because there's only 1 tree in hell's canyon. I had to take the hammock, just in case I could find some way to hang. Lucky for me I found some rocks to hang from.

I still have lots to learn but this is the place to be to talk to the experts. Enjoy!

I'm about a half hour from you. I have a bunch of hammock stuff, and lots of spare parts to make gear. Let's talk...
