Ditching toggles for tarp, Need knot help

Hey guys, in my efforts to simplify my setup process, i am trying to get rid of my toggle setup for my continuous tarp ridgeline. Basically i use two toggles connected to my tarp drings on either side of the tarp. These toggles connect to the prussic and allow the tarp to slide left and right along the ridgeline so i can align it over my hammock.

I am looking for a knot that i can tie here:
(fyi, the overhand knot can be undone and the two ends of the line that makes up the prussic will be seperated)

That will allow me to not have to use toggles and will just stay connected to the tarp dring for good. Something strong. TeeDee if your out there i could use your expertise! =P Thanks!

I use a simple square-knot for that very thing. It's easy to tie, untie, and it's strong. I've flirted with using a fisherman's knot just because it's so neat looking, but haven't put any effort into it. I have a friend that uses a mini-S-biner. You could make your prussik with a continuous loop and do that for a really neat connection.

Why not use a nacrabiner/shackle?

If it can't be spliced, make a loop on one of the ends and slip it over the overhand knot.

extra weight, The point is to find solutions that do not add weight. I've been shaving weight off everything, even taking scissors to my pack and cutting up my water filter, so at this point there is no way im gonna add weight. Im trying to makeup for all the luxuries i have: hammock setup, gps, aarn pack..

ikemouser, what is your current pack weight minus food/water?
I'm getting ready to go and was at 12.5 until I saw the forecast and the foot of snow that hit Vermont 2 days ago...then my pack weight climbed up!
Also what is the weight of the AARN your using?

Just a question, but have you seen a nacrabiner/shackle? It wouldn't add any weight - it's just made out of line. You could probably make one out of the line you are holding in your hand in the picture without adding anything, especially weight.

Or you can just use sticks found on the ground as toggles and not change anything.

When i bought it it was 4lbs 2oz, now its 3lb 8oz. Haven;t weight all my gear in the bag yet, will do tommoroow.

lark's head your prusic onto the d-ring if you are not interested in removing the tarp from the line. To do this: (1) intie you overhand knot (2) insert standing part of bot ends through the d-ring and bring both ends back around and on the outside of the prussic line (3) join the ends with a figure 8 stopper.

a simpler method would be to untie the prussic, clove hitch one end to the d-ring and then taught line hitch the other to your ridgeline. It would eliminate the need for 1/2 of your line used in the unecessary loop.
