Nice to hear from you again Ken. I'm taking a pass on the Circus World Camporee that weekend. We are doing a troop 3 day canoe trip the following weekend (Memorial Day). We attended the Backpacking Camporee last week (wet again).

    Maybe next time.

I'm taking requests for a Sat night Dutch Oven meal.
I was thinking chili or beef stew with cornbread. I'm open to suggestions, but I'm not a chef. (I have three ovens)

For beverages I propose good 'ol beer; but No light beer or anything you can see through.

    Greetings and welcome to HammockForums!

We will be hanging on private land (so I can PM you with exact directions later) just east of Dodgeville, WI. It be all paved road to the location, so no worries with a motorcycle. There is a small parking area on the road. It sounds like you will probably be arriving just at sunset. It is about a quarter mile hike from the road across a valley and up a hill to where we will be camping. I will mark the path with flags. When I scouted out the site a month ago there were no leaves on the trees, so I could see the road and anyone approaching, but that may not be the case in 2 weeks. My cell phone could not get reception in the valley. If you brought a whistle and got lost, give two blasts and i will come and get you.

As far as equipment: a hammock of course, and every thing else you would need on a solo weekend outing. If you don't have a stove, I can bring an extra MSR. Saturday night I'm planning on a dutch oven chili and cornbread experiment. If you'd like to bring something to share, that would be optional. Liquid refreshments made with malt (in moderation of course) might go well with chili. (see above restrictions )

Everyone else is welcome too! (we're up to 3 1/2 persons now; plenty of hanging room for more) (The landowner will be there that weekend and I might convince him to join us)

Do you have handheld GPS? I have the coordinates.
    ~bill.

Still bringing your youngun', kayaknut? I'm thinking if I can make this I'll bring my daughter along as well, as long as there are no objections to kids being along, that is... if it's a big-people-only shindig, I can go without her!

No objections with kids, but I'm leaving mine at home. I haven't had a camping outing without him for 4 years. His gonads just kicked in and now he knows everything. We could use a weekend apart.

Kayaknut, since this is private land I don't fee comfortable posting the location in public, but for anyone going I'd be happy to PM it to you.

Do you think the youngn's would be interested in spring wildflowers? They should be going good by then. I think we'll be just a bit late for morels, although I hear they're slow this year (dry), so maybe the rain this week will wake them up.
