Southern Wisconsin May 21-23 Hangout

I'd like to propose a regional "Hangout" the 4th weekend in May (21-23) (a week before Memorial Day weekend, as there are 5 weekends in May).

I just got the vacation time approved, landowner permission, and approval from my local "domestic social coordinator".

This would be an informal opportunity for members to meet without any specific hiking agenda. It will be on an old farm homestead in a secluded valley near Dodgeville, WI. There are several heavily wooded hillsides, and I scoped out one to camp on. A multispring- fed stream runs through the valley and there is an enchanted ravine with spring wildflowers. Potable water is available on site.

If there is desire, a nice day hike could be had at nearby Governors Dodge State Park.

For enticement, if four or more sign up, on Sat night I will prepare a dutch oven meal to share.

I will be there on Friday, and possibly Thurs nite too, if you just want to drop in for a day or so.

Wow, would really like to come and meet the local Wisconsin crew, but I work that weekend and the following Monday leave for Alaska. I am sure there will be a lot of last minute packing and unpacking.

I'd say I have a fairly good chance of being able to do that weekend! Count me as "75%" for now. Yep, better than 50-50!

As long as work doesn't get in the way, should be a "go".

Great idea! Great location! Date conflict for me, I'll be hanging in Baraboo during our Glacier's Edge Council Camporee. Also showing some young Scouts a few Leave No Trace ideas.
