    First big boy hammock

    Well sorta.

First - howdy. I've been reading the forums here for a bit and thought it appropriate to post first in the Introduce Yourself bit. So what's to say... I do quite a bit of hunting with my Howard Hill longbow and quite a bit of flyfishing. Not sure I remember a vacation (staying w/ inlaws doesn't count) where camping of some sort was not involved.

Most of my camping to date has been in tents or in a tent trailer but my one backpacking experience involved a cheap (though mighty heavy) army surplus jungle hammock. Rigged that bad boy w/ 550 cord and even then - probably 50 pounds ago - that was a bad idea. After the second night, the line showed serious signs of imminent failure but I digress.

Anyway, after quite a period of researching, shopping, dithering, etc. I finally purchased an ENO Doublenest today. Would have introduced myself a little earlier, but for the past several hours, I've been lounging in it and enjoying my book. Tried to take a nap in it but I was too jazzed about my sweet new hammock to do much more than nod off.

    Welcome to the Forum!

As a new face myself, who has been lurking for longer than that, I can safely say this place is a veritable fountain of info.

And the folks are real freindly round here too!

Just wish it wasnt such a mission for me to attend a Hangout. Nearly 24 hrs on a plane is a bit much at the moment
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

Welcome to HF GKhan.........the jazz will wear off and the long blissful napping will take over in a little while. Just be careful in the yard, I am still after three months of hanging in the front yard still getting the WTHIT looks from my neighbors!!!! They will also sneak up on you and stare till you wake up, very rude!

Browny - 24 hours on a plane is a LONG time. Yikes.

bigbamaguy - my wife kept coming out to make wry comments. I'm sure the neighbors are next.

    HamMike - thanks much!

This place is full of good info and general weirdness. I like it.
