    Nacra Prusik

So I think I have put together the best qualities of the prusik and the nacra biner. These will be an option for the Tarp Ridge Line, instead of a plain prusik or prusiks and S biners.

Looks like another useful trick. Very nice - I'll be trying this soon.

I would be interested to find out the loading specs on this prussic. Ie will the overhand not slip or roll before the prussic itself slips on the main line.

It appears that this is a length of line with the the loop shackle loop and is buried into the main line on one end and a back splice with a simple overhand knot on the other end and the whole thing is then wrapped in a prussic around a main line.

Isn't this more "fiddle factor" than say using a continuous loop prussic with either a toggle or S-biner?

    Cheers

    Well,

to some it might be "fiddle-factor fodder"....and to others it might be "just another option"...but to me, it is an "excellent solution to a problem" produced by the brilliant minds here at HF.net.

I don't know if you read the other thread (and I can't help you with a link) that was the birthplace for this new thingee, but it took less than 24 hours to be invented and presented to others to look at, and further discuss .

Seems to start here.... http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=17102 I already adapted lonetracker's version and like it very well and on the other I am using a nacrabiner. Saved me from having to buy more s-biners so I'm happy. They sell them in 3's... why? why not pairs? oh well less money on biners is more money for other things I'm still scraping together.

Ill find out the answers to your questions today.

It may be more fiddle factor than using an S biner... but it eliminates the S biner. For those counting grams. Also...I am under the impression most folks like leaving their tarp attached to their RL. So there isnt really any fiddle factor for those folks. Attach it and leave it.

The stopper knot didnt budge. The prusik slipped at 38 pounds. I went up to 40 to see if the stopper would move or roll and it didnt.

Alternatively, a 2 wrap prusik slips around 20 pounds.
