I was thinking the same thing. Didn't know there were castles there... much less ruined ones.

Great stuff Pazza, My first ever solo jaunt was that walk so it got some special memories. Thanks for it eh.
Nice vid. Did you find any water on Mt Solitary? Or did you have to haul it till the river?
Hey, there was no water at all completly dry. we camped on the kedumba end near the creek bed and there wasn't even any stagnent pools.
Kedumba river was pretty full.
views were amazing. my favourite part was probably ruined castle as it was such a great 360 view.

Hi Dave,
This is timely...for me at least. I'm taking a German exchange student who's staying with my wife and I on the Katoomba to Wentworth Falls section the weekend of 29/30-May. I was planning on camping at either Mt Solitary campground or Chinamans Gully.
I too am mindfull of water and am curious as to where you camped, where you got your water from and what the quality was like. How much did you carry in?
Thanks,
Russ
Its getting to my fav time year in now. No need to carry horrible amounts of water just to keep hydrated. I love winter
