    Brand new to hanging

Hello everyone this is MML ( The Man the Myth and the legend).
I am giving up backpacking via tenting and going with Hammock style backpacking. Now I have to choose a system. Working with a $200.00 budget, I am trying to figure out what will work best for me. I am 200lbs and 5ft.8" tall. I want to do mostly 3 season hiking with the hammock, but will not rule out some winter camping.
Man oh man, it is tuff to choose!! Hennessy hammocks, Hammock Bliss,or Eagles Nest Hammocks. The Clark is outside of my budget.
Most of these mentioned above will do fine. I just want to make sure I have good rain protection and the ability to keep my backside warm in my 30 degree plus mummy bag. Plus warmth on the occasional winter camping.
Been looking at this forum for two days--decision time will need to be soon!!
    Any advice???

Welcome to the forum, MML. As for advice, I would suggest a dual layer hammock. This will allow you to insert a camping pad (which you likely already have) between the fabric layers of the hammock and keep your backside warm.

Having an integrated bugnet is good but not essential. For places to start at, I would suggest the Warbonnet Traveler (comes in single and dual layer and 2 fabric weights). The advantage to this is that it has a structural ridgeline for a consistent and flat lay and you get the choice of 2 very usable suspension options. Also pickup his separate bugnet for the times that you need it. These 2 items are $75 and $65 respectively plus shipping. That leaves you about $60 for a tarp. That won't get you a silnylon tarp, but there are many options for less money than that.

Good luck with your choices and welcome to the world of hanging.

    Cheers

    Brian

Looks like I will jump over to the warbonnet site and take a look. not real sure how well my 3/4 self inflating will work in a hammock. But I will keep researching all my options. Wow, lot to learn!! Under and over Quilts, bugnets tarps, hanging systems, etc. All part of the experience of ground dwelling to hanging!!
    Thank you!!
PS: One big factor that I think hanging is for me, is that I always wished to have a tarp to cook under during the rain ( not so good with a backpacking tent). Hanging hammock systems solve that issue.
