What suspension systems work for you?

I'm new to the hammock craze, in fact I just completed my on DIY Hammock and stuff sack

. But what I'm lacking in knowledge, and I'm so happy to find such a great place to find information, is the suspension options. Right now I have rope/webbing/biners set up. But what I would like to do is have something set up so I could connect the hammock to the tree and then adjust for tension easily. It seemed that when I set up I have to keep adjusting my lengths of rope to get the right tension in the hammock. If you know of an easier way, please shed the light. Thanks.

Here you can see from the whipping is the rope(with knot) tied to the biner and then the straps.

I was thinking about installing some aluminum rings to help with the adjustments. What do you think?

They all work!! I have tried the HH figure 8 rope method, straps and SMC rings, straps and two different kinds of buckle's, now I'm using whoopie slings! My point is there are a lot of suspension system's listed here on the forum, most use what they feel will work for them and also what they feel will keep them up off the ground! You can do a search or just look through the posts in the suspension thread like Shug said and you will find pretty much all you need!!! Good luck with fine tuning your rig, post some more pic's when you get it all done!?!?!

I have two systems ... and like them both. One is clinch buckles or Pauls new ultra light clinch buckles and his light weight straps

My other favorite is his straps and whoopie slings either from OPIE or Paul ... or make them yourself ... fun to make and fun to say!

I use webbing and carabiners but I just set the desired length by pulling it through and then tie off with a slippery half hitch.

It's a bit hard to explain in words but I use the same system as a friend demonstrates here, under "Downloads"

What are these whoopie slings everyone talks about? What are they used for?

I'm a big fan of the simplicity of my current system, webbing attached at the tree with Dutch clips, and adjusted at the hammock with SMC descender rings.

They are an adjustable system made from hollow braid rope. Take a look at the video that Shug linked to in his post above. Grizz does an excellent job of explaining how it works. There are a couple of us that make them for sale.
