    Introducing myself: ZDP-189

    Hi, I'm Dan (aka ZDP-189 from britishblades.com).

I'm a hobbyist knifemaker and general DIY-er. I have a well equipped workshop, and can do a bit of metalwork, woodwork, leatherwork and have been known to run a sewing machine when needed.

As far as hammocks go, I own a HH Hyperlight Asym, but that's as far as it goes. I lookforward to taking it out on the trail this autumn, and if it works out, I'll be getting one for my wife as well.

If you lot need any help fabricating non-fabric bits, let me know.

Yes, I have knapped some tips (arrowheads). I can get a pretty good edge and symmetry. I'd love to do some larger pieces, but we don't have a supply of flint or obsidian here and I'm not keen on knapping float glass. I have a couple of books on the subject, though it takes years of practice to get good. At one show, I saw a flint knife that was better than anything I could forge or grind. It had multiple recurves and was soo thin and every half centimetre was carefully knapped to shape. I bow down and grovel before that knapper's brilliance.

And thanks for the welcome and kind words, everybody. I hope I can contribute something to this forum. I'll likely be in and out from time to time, but if anyone needs something from me, I can always be reached by PM or email.

You can probably find good english flint in the harbor if you can find site of sail ships demise..... they often used flint for balast 3-400 years ago...

If your find yourself in the States for one of our hammock hang out send a PM and I'll bring my anlers and some flint and we can break some rock...
