    Successful first hang!

Thanks to a lot of help from a lot of you experts I finally took the chance and spent a great night of sleep in the great outdoors by the great Potomac river. Everything went without a hitch. It even rained and I did not notice (and did not get wet!!). My setup does need some fine tuning, I hope to get it debugged as I hang out more.

    Here's a pic ...

    Again, thanks to all!

Glad you had a nice experience on your first hang. I agree with FF. Gorgeous spot you picked.

    Hi Vic,
Congrats on your successful hang. Where were you on the Potomac? I'm in MD also. If you have the time, please join us at Gathland State Park, in MD, for the first get together of the Mid-Atlantic Hammock Hangers Association the weekend of October 5-7.
    Best,

    Congrats!

I agree with everyone, nice spot. In Florida, we would refer to you as gator bait.

Vic, congrats on your hang, glad all went well for you and you enjoyed it so much. I have to agree with everyone else, that is a gorgeous hang site. Are you using an ENO hammock? Anyway, welcome aboard and happy hanging!

    good deal vic.
you probably noticed that hanging on a hill can provide a few challenges, like being careful that you've got your balance when you stand up, or laying stuff on the ground that can roll away... especially near the water
but hey, you wouldn't even consider putting a tent there.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Yes the spot was nice and it kind of made a point with my tenting friends. The hilly site was tricky but interesting. Getting good footing was essential to get out and also remembering which side to get off the hammock!

I have to improve my bottom insulation if I want to attend the MAHHA in Oct. The overnight temps then will be much lower then and I don't think I have the appropriate insulation. I only used two sleeping bags on this outing. one thin one used as a pad and the second one as usual.

I look forward to my second hang.
