    Polypro stretch

Hey guys we were discussing polypro in another thread and I had a question. I"be been using poly pro 1" webbing instead of poly for some time now. It has held fine with nylon stitching on the loops and has never broken. But I am wondering how much it a actually stretchs. When I take it in my hand and pull it in opposite directions I can see a little bit of stretch. Could this stuff streth enough to affect the lay of the hammock or force me to hang it high because of the amount of sag? I went with polypro b/c it was lighter. 2x 6 foot huggers poly pro - 71g or 2.5 oz.

Polypro does stretch more than Polyester, but the good thing is that it doesn't have the memory that Nylon does. So, theoretically, once it's stretched out, there will be very minimal stretching on it from then on. So, initially, you may find fault, but that should be taken care of after the first few hangs.

That, at least, is my understanding. I'm glad to be corrected if that's not the case.

My experience has depended on how heavy the webbing is. Really heavy duty stuff stretches very little for me because it is woven really tight and dense. The lighter webbing will stretch as the weave is distorted some under load. But if I remember correctly it stayed there after it stretched instead of springing back.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
