Hello everyone. I'm new to here & to hammocks in general. I'm interested in making a hammock & could really use some direction. Such as: how to books? material ideas for 200# person? & anything else that may get me going. I know I haven't given much of a direct question but this is uncharted water for me.

It's a pretty good little reference to go by. Of course, there are plenty of threads here on almost any and every aspect of hammocking you could possibly think of. Lots o' good readin'!

Might find it at your local REI.
You'd miss out on that Ed Speer signature though.

unless you bring the book to one of the south east hammock hangers association (SEHHA) camp outs at hot springs, nc.

they have already suggested the 1st two web sites & the book that i would suggest.
if you'll read & check out the pictures in one or more of those resources, that will give you a good start.

I was thinking Ed Speer's book would be the best place to start. Does it give detailed info. on how to make a hammock?
Yes, very detailed info. Also, any questions that you have can be asked here to 'fill in the gaps'.
