don't sound like it would be as breathable as i'd want on the african plains, but at least he was off the ground!
did he show or say any thing about how he put it together & supported it?
I too will something make and joy in it's making

missed how he made it, but he was hanging between two trees. at he end of the show he committed a sin by sleeping in a tent made out of other parts of the balloon. He did say though he got a little cool when he woke up from sleeping in the hammock.

I haven't seen any of the new episodes yet, but that sounds pretty cool. Hopefully, I'll catch one on a night off sometime soon.

I like Survivorman a lot better than Man vs. Wild. I haven't seen the new episode yet but I will try and catch it this weekend.

Gotta agree with ya on that one, HC. Bear seems more like the "I've done this and you haven't" type. Les just seems a little more down to earth to me, really.

Les also does not have his camera crew and all their supplies (and a certain safety factor) with him for the whole week. Bear is all show (though good at it). Les is all "go".

in a "survival" situation, i guess you just have to use what you have.
a non-breathable hammock isn't ideal, but i think i would definitely choose that over being on the ground... especially in africa

I saw the episode where he was stranded in the Kalahari Desert and he was discussing knots while fashioning a makeshift spear. He was using the same whipping knot we use on hammocks to secure some metal on the end of a stick to make his spear.

Maybe he is a hammock camper and we just don't know it.
