    Ix Uq & Tq

I finally got around to using the uncoated 1.1 oz camo from Scott Littlefield, I had 20 yards of it. I have been using a thermarest and sleeping bag. I wanted to go lighter. For the UQ I used two layers of insultex sandwiched between two layers of the camo with channels for shockcord along each side and also a channel on each end with a pull on the center to tighten the ends. Simply clipped the ends to the whoopie sling at the end of the hammock and drew it up with cord locks. Seems really warm, will give it a good test tonight in the low 30's. Sure is light and stuffable!!

The TQ includes a draft baffle at the head end, simply rolled the whole thing twice and stitched. Worked really well. Made a simple footbox and it seems really simple and effective. Again, will test tonight. Nice to be free of my old ground dwelling stuff.

Don't have a scale and haven't stuffed it, so not sure. Gonna sleep with it tonight in the low 30's and see if any adjustment is needed, then I will stuff them.

A helluva lot less than my thermarest and sleeping bag!! I am not sure what it weighs Mr. MacEntyre, I don't have a scale. What I do know is that it is a whole lot less than what I was carting before. Now when I canoe, I can carry more beer.

I am looking forward to giving it a go, we have a heavy frost watch for tonight, sposed to get down to near freezing. Will be a good trial. My goal is to get to the low 30's with it. That will get me to where I need to be for most times I am paddling up north with much less weight. I am impressed with the Insultex, and I do think the additional camo 1.1 on each side improves its efficiency. Thanks again for making it available.

Did you use the whole 60 in width, and how long did you make it? I also have a Claytor and I'm pulling out the thread injector tomorrow!

Right! Next to nothing, or about the same as four yards of camo nylon!

I'd guess that it's less than 8 oz.

    Isn't that just incredible?

Can't wait to hear how it does...
