I finally got a corner to set my thread injector up again. Here is the vid I promised back before I moved. I hope it helps explain the benefits of a tailor's awl.

Huh, never knew there was an actual tailor's awl. That is actually how I usually use my seam ripper. I really like the bunch-and-break method, I'll have to use that
Thanks,

How does the non-tapered awl differ from a carpenter's scratching awl or an ice pick?

Another fine installment to add to the "We make gear" series! I've poked a few holes in fabric with a seam ripper in the past and it's just as frustrating as making the bad stitch in the first place.
I don't have an awl, but I have been using the seam ripper in the same manner in which you showed in your video and have been not damaged any projects lately. Thanks for sharing the vid. I always seem to pick up a pointer or two!
excellent video as usual. I still dont have a thread injector but watch your videos anyway. As soon as I get a thread injector Ill be rewatching most or all of your videos.
