Is anyone who's not going to Neos' hang or the RRG hang interestedin doing an overnighter at Stone Mountain State park on Saturday 5/22? If so, post here or PM me. I'm heading up either way, just seeing if anyone wants to come along.

Where's that?
Get busy living, or get busy dying.
Hooch I'll be there with the grandkids... but I'll be over in the campground with the motorhome(site 40)..
I may just take the hammock and find a couple of trees to relax between.

Stone Mountain State Park, NC. Great place. If I weren't going to RRG I'd join you there Hooch. Why don't you just carpool with me to RRG instead?

Sorry, I had my weekends mixed up. The RRG trip isn't until next weekend (May 28-31). I've got "Dad" stuff going on this weekend, so I can't meet you at SMSP.

I like stone mountain. Did you pick a campsite? I have heard E is nice but have only been to a and b. A is by the water. Rain is expected so I bet it's pretty wide open. They make you haul in your own firewood if I remember and so I have the past few times. It's a super short hike in so it wasn't that bad but not UL by any means. I use the kelty external frame to haul wood in. I may join you... Keep me posted.
I think site F is what you want . Site E is okay, but small, not a lot of hammocking trees. Site A is fine, and large. I've never heard about them wanting you to carry in your own firewood, they've been discouraging bringing in "foreign" wood because of the worry about introducing insects from the wood.

Camping and Fires
Camping is allowed in designated areas by permit only. In most cases, campers register with a ranger on site or at an on-site registration box.
Fires are permitted only in designated areas and must be tended at all times. Gathering firewood is generally prohibited, but may be allowed in some parks.
Will assume interest dissipated as this thread is silent and head for other trails
