    UB Snugpak questions

    Hi guys,

used my Snugpak a few times now when out camping and a couple of head scratchers have come to mind.
Firstly one is that i have noticed a length of shock cord running round the UB with adjustment toggles attached, i haven't got a clue what it's for, any ideas ?

secondly i have noticed that there are webbing loops fitted, what are they for ? i used these to carabiner onto my hammock tapes last weekend when i though my artic bag would be warm enough, oh how was i so wrong, lol not fun trying to mod the ub onto the hammock in the dark but it worked, lol

    Hi Andy

The cord with the toggle on is so you can adjust the tension once you're in your hammock. It kind of cinches it up around you when you tighten it. Don't over tighten though as you'll get a cold spot on your 4rse

As for the webbing loops, I pass the shock cords through them to add a bit more security to the setup.

Did you ever see this one mate ? ...

Ahhhhh, got it now Rich, lol, i did think it was for that, i'll have to try it out at the meet end of the month thanks bud. I didn't use the shock cords last weekend just crabed the loops to the tapes, it looked a bit odd as the ub is shorter than the hammock but when in the hammock the ub did cover me well.

Yep, saw that Rich, that's how i set it up because of that picture, wouldn't have had a clue otherwise. lol

I've got some decent pics somewhere of the setup I did a couple of years ago, I'll dig them out mate and stick them up for you.

    Lol, like it.

Seriously though even with my British Army artic sleeping bag my back and legs were really cold as a good breeze was blowing through and it was below average temps for the time of year, just goes to show how good these UB's are really.

The jury is still out though on the snugpak quilt.

    Hi Andy,

The webbing loops are particularly useful when you use the UQ with a HH or other assymmetrical hammock. Attach the loops to the tie-out points to offset the UQ a bit so it follows the shape of the hammock.

    Hang loose! (errr..... tight!)
