Interested In Hanging from Texas

Hey, I just got back to Texas after a stint overseas. I love backpacking and after taking a trip to Gila National Forest I was interested in trying my luck in hammocks. Anybody have any good suggestions for cutting my backpack weight with a hammock, but at the same time still providing the comfort.

Welcome Monkeyboy! There are many folks here who can do a better job than I can suggesting how to cut weight and be comfortable so I'll defer to some of the wisdom that I bet you see posted to this thread soon.

For me, seeing what other folks use is most helpful. I can read the threads but seeing in person makes the difference and that's one of the reasons I like group hangs.

There are a lot of Texas hangers all over the state and at least one group hang every couple of months it seems. The next one is in June at Inks Lake.

Not much on lightweight issues, but I have seen a lot of information about the subject within the pages of this forum...welcome.
