Made my IX UQ & TQ

Not my own design, but just like canoebies. Although mine is naked still, just waiting for my rip-stop to arrive.

After trying it on my Clatytor JH, I set up the WBBB to see what adjustments would need to be made for a good fit. NONE AT ALL! It fits perfectly, even with the foot box.

I was truly astounded by it's performance too. Although it was only in the house, when the wife removed the UQ as I laid in the hammock, it felt like I was laying on an ice cube. And with the TQ on I could only take just a few minutes before I was kicking off the covers. This stuff is really great!

    No Pics = Didn't happen
It's just a ride and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money, a choice, right now, between fear and love.

I'm going to try to attach the rip-stop tonight, but we will see. I have a 4 day trip starting this Sunday the 23rd, so I got to get this stuff done.

    These look REALLY GOOD!!!
Educate us some more on HOW you went about the process.
I'm still waiting till I understand the technique better.
Pics of the sewn portions would be great...and may be just the thing to get my IX to my HH...
    Neat Regards

Wow, that looks huge!! Nice thing about the lightweight is that you can splurge. I love having extra width that I can tuck around me on those northern nights that are crisp. I have been sleeping out in the mid 40's with mine for two weeks now. Works great. Did some mods by attaching the UQ to a ridge line using prussic loops. Seems to work better, holds it in place and the ends aren't as bunch up to get a good seal. Good work, it's fun huh!!

Basically by the seat of my pants. Took a 7' piece of IX and did a roll seam on both sides. On the ends, I also did a roll seam but made it big enough to have a small tube to run some shock cord through it. Once the cord was in place, I mechanically stitched the ends of the shock cord to the corners so it would not pull out. Then I found the center and snipped the IX tube and pulled out the shock cord and attached a cord lock to it. This allows the ends to be bunched up.

Next I added a 12" piece of growsgain(sp) to each corner as you can see in the picture, giving it a twist to make the loop. Now just add shock cord to the loops with a beener and hook it on your suspension.
Now all I have to do is wrap the outside of the UQ with rip stop.

TQ is also 7' and wrapped in 1.1 rip stop. I know that it's big, but I want to be able to tuck myself in. Once I find my scale I'll let you know it's weight.

    Hope this helps.
