    Smile Ridgeline length

    Hi All,
Completing my first hammock ala Hennessey clone. With the ends whipped Warbonnet style its 116.5". How long should the ridge line be? I seem to remember reading on here that its either 89 or 83% of the length of the hammock. Is this right?
    Thanks,
    Dave

83% is the general consensus , but as the beautiful Ms. Swan put it in Pirates of the Caribbean, "they're more like guidelines anyway!"

An "easy" conversion is that the RL is 10" for every 12" of hammock length (83%).

Your ridge line can be whatever length is comfortable for you. Try different lengths till it feels good to you. We are all different shapes, heights and weights.
Set up the hammock, tie some rope from end to end and test..re-adjust, test again. Find what length works best for you.
I install a whoopie from end to end and can change at anytime, depending on my moods..(which I have plenty)

Who can argue with a moody gargoyle? (Besides, he's right.)

Definitely experiment. You have to start some where and somewhere the 10/12 rule makes a pretty good starting point.

Most of my DIY hammocks are 120" long with a 100" ridgeline. But I used a lot of adjustable ones to settle on that...which happens to be the same 83% others use!
