Although this has probably been answered in another thread somewhere I am having trouble finding it. Where do you tie a structual ridge line, best spot? would I be corect and assume it's where you would tie your support ropes to the hammock or is another spot better? I don't actually plan on tieing it I plan on using some small light carabiners and a piec of amsteel.

Short answer is to just tie it to your support lines right where they attach to the hammock.
