    Measure twice ... cut once.

I'd like to share lessons learned from a simple snakeskin project. I've found a way to save some time! Instead of spending all that time checking my measurements, I just measured once. It's a good thing I did, too! Because I needed that time I saved so I could re-cut my project THREE Times! LOL

    a corollary

for some of us it needs to be
    - calculate three times
    - measure twice
    - cut once

because a precise measurement of a faulty length doesn't do you any good at all.

I just use my fabric stretcher if I cut something too short, or my board stretcher, if I am working with wood.

Always good to keep a couple of those on the job site.

I was a carpenter a few years back, and specialized in flooring, mostly ceramic tile. The skills I learned there have come in pretty handy with fabric, believe it or not.

    Yes, always measure twice.

Kind of like the old adage, "Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an ax." My brother said that's how they build fences for the forest service.
