    Thanks for posting what looked like a great trip! The scenery is beautiful. Some of my wife's family is in Colorado Springs. I've dayhiked but never gotten to backpack there, Maybe one day...

    I thought it was beautiful b/c of the new growth poking thru the char. A lot of symbolism in there...that's why I liked the pasqueflower picture.

    Yeah the new growth was really neat - I'd love to go back in a few weeks when spring is in full swing and the green is really starting to show. One of the reasons we wanted to take a lot of time on the hike out was so we could take more pictures. I have tons of shots of little bits of green poking through the ashes. Unfortunately, the sun was blazingly harsh, so most of the pictures came out pretty crappy from all the glare.
