    Flysheet tear.

    Hi all,

I am new to this so please make allowances. I have recently bought a HH expedition asym. I have used it just twice and have noticed a tear in the flysheet, I have no idea how this occured;(see attached image); As the tear is about 4 inches long along the seam my initial reaction is to sew it. If anybody has experience of this or any useful ideas I would welcome them.

    Thanks
    ED.

I would contact HH and see if they might rplace it for you. Otherwise I would just sew it back in place.

    Welcome to the forum.

    welcome to HF ed.
like headchange said, hh should take care of it. but if you'll be needing it before that can take place, you may want to reinforce the netting along the tear w/ ripstop repair tape & hand sew it to the hammock.
but i would contact hh & see what they say. ...tim

    Hi all,

I never got any suggestions back form HH, so having thought about the problem for a while I carried out a repair as follows; The bugnet had torn almost flush along the seam so using polyester thread (black) on a small needle I initially stiched the torn section back into the original stitchline on the underside of the tape seam. Having done this there was sufficient space on the tape to follow up with a row of close stitching to reinforce my repair. It looks tidy and feels secure, I am confident it will hold.

Yes, I'm surprised you didn't hear back from them.

Me too. From other comments I have seen, Tom seems good about replacing defective hammocks.

I bought one of their slightly color run (flaws) Deluxe Explorers this summer at discount and used it one night before I saw a run in the fly. I called them and offerd to send the old fly back for a replacement and they said don't worry - sent me a new fly within a week. They let me keep the old one.
Absolutely no issues with Hennessy. I am thinking of buying an undercover now. Their customer service is tops!!!!!!
I would call them again... There may have been something going on..and your message got lost.
