There is nothing quite like that sound. I love the rain, as long as I'm comfy!

Riverpirate - I grew up in the country near Palmetto, then moved to Newnan (my mom and brother still live there). I miss the afternoon thunderstorms even though we have the odd one here now and again. I remember holing up in a tin roofed barn a couple hundred yards from the house when I didn't make it home before the skies opened up. Our house didn't have air conditioning so you could hear the rain on the slate roof during storms. I used to crack a bedroom window during evening storms in the spring and fall just to hear the rain while I drifted off to sleep. Sleeping under a tarp in the rain brings back these memories...

===> My last two hangs (NH and VT) were both visitied by torrential rains at least one night. Best two nights sleep I had! Nary a drop inside.
