I can't believe it. I actually got a kitchen pass from my spousal unit. I'm so glad I scheduled a week-long vacation to the Berkshires for her at the end of October over a month ago...it went a long way to soften her up for me attending this hang. I'm so excited!

Being a noob I have a question: Since it's mid-October, will I need an underquilt? I've always been a ground dweller and usually sleep pretty warm, but all indications from what I've read is that hanging is a little cooler (literally and figuratively). What do you fine folks suggest?

    Cheers,
    Kyle

Yup. Dress warm, too. It may be balmy, but ...

Been there several times in Oct. It can be hot like summer or down to freezing. So be prepared for anything right now. Weather reports a week out will give some indication of expected temps.

Yes...what Happy Camper said. The nights can really fool you and get colder than one might expect for that time of the year. If you don't own an underquilt, you can also use a pad. Without one or the other, the heat from your body just wicks away through the material.

I'm going to have to miss MAHHA.

I'll be gone the next two weekends after MAHHA (Cumberland Island, Ga. & Linville Gorge, NC), and will be back up north mid-September for the Dolly Sods, WV trip. So the schedule is full, (work schedule permitting).

I am sorry to miss seeing everyone at MAHHA.

This is a tempting group hang. Anybody that plans on going swinging near BWI on there way out to the MAHHA?

I'm taking her to a resort in Hancock, MA. It's part of my timeshare network. A Gold Crown Resort along a tree line is the closest my wife will get to "roughing it". Oh well, at least we'll get to sit by a fire and go canoeing. And believe you me...I fully intend to hang my hammock for a nice fall day nap at some point!

    Cheers,
    Kyle

I just hope you heal up correctly...regardless. It would of course be a bonus if we both make the MAHHA. I'd love the chance to meet up with my fellow PA HF members in person.

    Get Well,
    Kyle
